Bruschetta is the quintessential Italian appetizer, a dish that combines simplicity and flavor in every bite. Quick, fresh and tasty, it becomes a juicy antipasto to serve at any time, whether at an informal gathering among friends or as the opening of a special meal.
Although the more traditional version requires few ingredients, it is the versatility of this dish that makes it a true classic. From fresh tomatoes to more daring combinations with cheeses, cured meats or grilled vegetables, bruschetta always adapts to whatever ingredients you have on hand, while maintaining its rustic and delicious essence.
It also has that nostalgic touch of taking advantage of the previous day’s bread, showing that, with a little creativity, the simplest ingredients can be transformed into a feast of flavors.
Ingredients for bruschetta for 4 people:
- 8 slices of bread, preferably from the day before.
- 300 g cherry tomatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- Salt (to taste)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Oregano or fresh basil (according to preference)

Preparation:
1-Prepare the bread
Toast the bread slices. You can do this in a frying pan, in a toaster or in an oven using the grill function. The objective is to make the bread crispy on the outside but keep a tender texture on the inside.
2-Prepare the tomatoes
Cut the cherry tomatoes into small pieces and season with salt, a good splash of extra virgin olive oil, the finely chopped garlic clove and oregano or basil, as you prefer. Mix well and marinate for a few minutes so that the flavors integrate.
3-Mount the bruschetta
Place the marinated tomato mixture on the toasted bread slices.
This appetizer is as simple as it is delicious and is sure to win over everyone at the table – perfect to start any meal in true Italian style!
